From November 25-27, the FUESD Expanded Learning Department hosted an exciting Fall Camp for students in grades TK-6 at La Paloma School. Over 150 students participated in the three-day event, which offered a blend of educational and creative activities designed to inspire learning and fun during the fall break.
One of the highlights was the Wild Animal Safari, where students explored the fascinating world of wild animals through interactive lessons and outdoor activities. The camp also featured a two-day Art Exploration Program, allowing students to unleash their creativity with unique projects like Black Light African Sunset Silhouette Paintings and Animal Print Feather Gel Pens. These activities introduced students to a variety of art techniques while encouraging self-expression and innovation.
Students in grades 3-6 wrapped up the week with an unforgettable field trip to the San Diego Zoo. The private guided tour offered them a deeper understanding of wildlife and conservation efforts, blending education with adventure. Meanwhile, students in grades K-2 enjoyed fall-themed activities like the Turkey Trot, ‘Build an Animal,’ animal painting, and creating paper bag puppets.
The camp, which ran from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., was part of the Expanded Learning program’s intersession opportunities, providing enriching experiences for FUESD students during school breaks.
A huge thank you to the Expanded Learning Department for organizing such a fantastic program and to the students for their enthusiasm and creativity. The Fall Camp was a memorable experience for all and a great example of how learning can extend beyond the classroom!
