FUESD and North County Food Bank Join Forces to Feed 340+ Families

FUESD partnered with the North County Food Bank (NCFB) to successfully coordinate a summer food distribution event at Mary Fay Pendleton Elementary (MEE) this week. This collaborative effort, spearheaded by Megan Shinner, Assistant Principal at William H. Frazier (WHF) Elementary, provided essential food supplies to over 340 families in the community.

Community volunteers, students, and FUESD staff came together to ensure the success of the event. Each family received nearly 70 pounds of fresh produce, canned goods, dry goods, and cereal, addressing the food insecurity faced by many families during the summer months. The NCFB also supports the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, working closely with our School Social Workers to distribute weekend food supplies to selected students in our in-town schools.

Megan Shinner expressed her gratitude for the tremendous support from the community, saying, “I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Shannon and the North County Food Bank on this summer food distribution initiative. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our volunteers, we successfully distributed  fresh produce and dry goods to over 500 FUESD families across the two distribution days. I am looking forward to collaborating with them again in the future.”

The FUESD is committed to supporting its students and their families by providing essential resources and creating a strong sense of community. This food distribution event exemplifies the district’s dedication to addressing the needs of its students beyond the classroom.
