The Fallbrook Union Elementary School District (FUESD) recently witnessed a spectacular event as La Paloma Elementary’s afterschool students took center stage for their debut performance of the beloved musical “Annie.” What made this rendition truly remarkable was that the students not only starred in the show but also handled all aspects of the production, including acting and set movement, showcasing their incredible talents and dedication.
Under the guidance and support of the CAST Dance Academy, these budding performers exhibited their skills, enthusiasm, and dedication throughout the entire production. CAST Dance Academy, a non-profit organization celebrating 30 years, is dedicated to inspiring children of all ages through various dance genres. Their mission of using the art of dance to foster self-confidence, discipline, structure, and creativity perfectly aligned with the goals of the FUESD afterschool program.
Lillian Perez, the FUESD afterschool director, expressed her admiration for the students’ performance, stating, “The dedication and passion displayed by our students during the production of ‘Annie’ were truly inspiring. Witnessing their growth and confidence on stage was an incredible experience for everyone involved.”
Jennifer Craw, the owner of CAST Academy, shared her enthusiasm for collaborating with the public school students, remarking, “It is wonderful to be returning to teach the public school students, coming to their campus and literally meeting them where they are! I consider it a true privilege to watch them discover, grow and enjoy a new creative outlet, acting in a mini-musical”
Teachers and families alike were amazed by the students’ outstanding performances, not just in acting but also in handling the technical aspects of the show with remarkable ease. The synergy between the FUESD afterschool program and the guidance provided by CAST Dance Academy allowed these young talents to shine brightly on stage, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who attended.
The success of “Annie” not only showcased the students’ artistic abilities but also highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and community organizations like CAST Dance Academy. The FUESD and CAST Dance Academy look forward to further collaborations that will continue to empower and inspire the young minds of Fallbrook, providing them with opportunities to explore and flourish in the world of performing arts.
