Potter Junior High School recently hosted a lively and exciting Academic Festival to celebrate the hard work and academic growth of its students. Over 560 students—270 7th graders and 290 8th graders—earned an invitation to the event by showing impressive growth on the STAR test, with scores increasing by .4 or more.
The STAR test is administered once each trimester to measure students’ academic progress. This year, the school saw a remarkable level of achievement, with a significant number of students reaching the growth benchmark. To honor this success, the school organized a fun-filled festival packed with games, challenges, and activities designed to celebrate both academic and personal progress.
The festival featured a variety of games, including tug of war, Connect 4, Jenga, corn hole, cup stacking, and more. These activities not only provided a fun break from studying, but also encouraged teamwork, strategy, and friendly competition. Students had the opportunity to bond with classmates, challenge themselves, and take pride in their hard-earned success.
The event was a testament to the dedication and perseverance of Potter Junior High’s students, who have worked diligently throughout the year to meet and exceed their academic goals. Teachers, staff, and administrators were on hand to congratulate the students and cheer them on as they participated in the various activities.
With over 560 students meeting the growth goal, the Academic Festival was a tremendous success, showcasing the collective effort of both students and educators. The event served as a reminder that academic achievement is not just about testing, but also about the journey of improvement and the joy that comes from growth and learning.
As the school year continues, Potter Junior High looks forward to celebrating even more student success and growth in the future.
