On Thursday, September 26, the Rotary Club of Fallbrook participated in an enriching discovery tour at the De Luz Ecology Center, providing a valuable opportunity for community connection. Ten members of the club spent the afternoon exploring the rich history of Fallbrook Union Elementary School District’s (FUESD) outdoor school while gaining insight into the hands-on Science and immersive Social Studies lessons that bring the curriculum to life.
The visit included an active engagement with one of the 6th-grade lessons on water pollution, offering participants an interactive experience of the educational programs offered at the center. The Rotary Club members learned how FUESD’s standards and curriculum are seamlessly integrated into hands-on learning experiences, reinforcing the district’s commitment to real-world applications of education.
Stephanie Wilcox-Hall, De Luz Ecology Center’s new teacher, made an immediate and lasting impression on the visitors. Her enthusiasm, organizational skills, and deep knowledge left the Rotarians feeling welcomed and inspired by the work being done at the center.
Reflecting on the event, Dr. Kimberly Huesing, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for FUESD and a member of the Rotary Club of Fallbrook, said, “It was a fantastic event, and we are grateful for the Rotary Club of Fallbrook’s interest in learning more about the important work we do here.
